Wrap around care

Our bespoke wraparound service is tailored specifically for preschool-aged children. We deliver these sessions in our homely, cosy snug. The children can relax after the busy preschool day and engage in activities of their choice in a familiar environment with the preschool staff. The children help to plan the meal menus and enjoy a home-cooked light meal. We make the most of our local surroundings and go and explore parks, the local duck pond, the local library and the garden centre.

Holiday Club

We have our very own wonderful woodland holiday club, specifically set up for children aged 2-5 years old. We spend lots of time in our wonderful woodland, building our self-esteem, confidence and resilience through exploring our natural surroundings. The woodland activities help to challenge the children and enable them to learn new skills and knowledge in natural surroundings. As well as spending time in the woodland, we explore the local area, go for picnics, visit other woods, and use the bus and train to explore new places and have new experiences..

Tapestry Online Learning Journal

Tapestry builds a very special record of a child’s experiences and journey through their early years, using an online learning journal designed and developed specifically for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Using photos, videos and observations, our early years practitioner, along with yourself, ‘weaves’ the story of the child and how they progress together. The Tapestry platform then works seamlessly to enable these memories to be kept as a permanent record of each child’s unique life. All information held in the platform is kept securely, and can be downloaded and shared as required. You are able to view your child’s progress, and how much fun they’re having – online, through the platform as we share observations. You can also upload your own thoughts and comments.

The communication between staff and parents that Tapestry enables, helps build a shared understanding of how every child can reach their full potential. The Tapestry online learning journal is also available as an easy-to-use & secure app.

Ofsted Report

Ofsted inspect our setting and carry out regulatory visits to ensure that we effectively support children through the EYFS and deliver the aims of the framework.

Following an inspection of a setting, the Preschool receives a full report documenting the inspectors findings. The most recent report is available here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I arrange a visit?

Please just give us a call on 07905 725128 and we can arrange a suitable time for you to come and visit the preschool.

Are you Ofsted registered?

Yes – Our registration number is 311322

When is the Preschool open?

We are open Monday to Friday from 9.00am – 3.00pm each day. We operate for 38 weeks of the year. Please see term dates for closure dates.

What happens if I am delayed collecting my child?

Sometimes parents are unavoidably delayed.  Please let us know as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary concerns.  Arrangements will be made to look after your child until you arrive.  In the event that you are more than 5 minutes late on 3 occasions or more, we will have to make an additional charge to cover staff costs.

How do I know my child will be safe and secure?

All our staff undergo enhanced Disclosure and barring (DBS) checks before they are allowed to be with the children.  In addition, references are taken up prior to starting work with Lindley Preschool.

All the resources in the Preschool are of a high quality and regular risk assessments on equipment and procedures are carried out to ensure everything is maintained to the highest standard.

We carry out regular Fire Drills and Lock Down procedures with the children, so that they become familiar with the routine, and should we have an emergency, we will be able to clear the building quickly and safely.

We operate a password system to unknown people picking children up – parents confirm their password with staff when they drop off the child at the beginning of the session.  When an unknown person comes to collect a child they will be asked for the password before being allowed entry and to pick up the child.  On no circumstances will any child be allowed to leave the preschool premises with an adult the staff do not know and does not have the correct password.

The building has a secure coded lock and the preschool has a separate coded lock that is only known by the staff of the Preschool and Lindley Out of School Club to ensure the children are always safe and secure.

What clothes does my child need to wear in the wonderful woodland?

It is essential all children attending wonderful woodland sessions are appropriately dressed. Sessions take place throughout the year except in high winds and storms. Suitable clothing is very important.  If children are not suitably dressed, they may not be able to attend that week’s session.

It is recommended all children bring with them on their wonderful woodland day:

  • At least 3 layers of clothing on their top. An extra jumper is recommended on very cold days.
  • T-shirt (base layer), jumper and long trousers (no shorts please)
  • Wellingtons or sturdy waterproof boots
  • Hat, gloves and scarf or neck warmer on colder days
  • Sun hat and sunscreen (already applied) on warmer days

The preschool will provide waterproof jackets and waterproof trousers.

What will my child be given to eat and drink?

We ensure we offer the children a varied and healthy diet made from fresh produce for our morning and afternoon snacks. We ask you to provide a healthy packed lunch if your child is staying for a full day.  You can find out more about what to include in a healthy packed lunch or for different ideas on the NSH change for life website. https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes

My child has a dietary requirement, food allergy/intolerance – can you accommodate this?

We can accommodate all dietary and cultural requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy. If your child has a food tolerance you will be required to fill out a healthcare plan before your child starts.

How many staff will there be at Preschool?

The number of staff working at the Preschool depends on how many children are attending that particular day.  We ensure we adhere to the staff to children ratio’s, which are:

  • 1:4 for children aged between 2 and 3 years old.
  • 1:8 for children aged 3 years and older.

What qualifications do the staff have?

All our staff are qualified to level 2 or above. All staff currently undergo an Induction period and attend Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Children Training.  We ensure this training is continually updated and refreshed.  As an organisation we are committed to the continuous development of our staff and encourage staff to undertake further training.

What happens if my child is taken ill at the Preschool?

If your child is taken ill at Preschool we will phone you using the contact details provided, if you or any other named parents cannot be contacted we will ring an emergency contact via the details provided on your child’s registration form.

What if my child is ill and cannot attend preschool?

If your child misses Preschool due to illness, unfortunately no refund can be made.

If your child has a case of sickness or diarrhoea they must not attend Preschool until 48hrs after the last symptom has occurred.  In the interest of the other children, it is important that your child is well before returning them to the Preschool.

If your child is prescribed a course of antibiotics we ask that your child stay at home for the first day of the course in case of any allergic reaction from the medication.

What if my child needs medication during the day?

Please refer to our Medication Policy, which can be requested by contacting us.

Family Learning

We pride ourselves in having fantastic relationships with the parents. Family learning sessions, that promote aspects of the EYFS are held over the academic year, they are always well attended by the children’s families.

The events range from exploring the local environment to having family breakfasts. The family learning sessions provide invaluable opportunities for families to get involved with learning at preschool and greatly support the children’s understanding of the diverse community we live in.
